Started about 7 months ago now watching what I ate. Been thinking about making my own bread for a while now, so I know exactly what has gone into it..... Anybody using a bread maker they could recommend maybe?? Thankyou all

Hi Red18, I make my own gluten free bread but I don't use a bread maker and the secret is to treat the yeast right as its living so the water must be Luke warm and you want to leave the loaf to prove in a warm draught free place like a slightly prewired top oven.

If you want a bread maker for gluten free bread then you want one with a gf setting or use the fast setting. To me the one set back of a bread maker oil the paddle makes a hole in the middle.

I have a Panasonic. It’s a bit more expensive but worth it for the end result.

Hi Red, I bought mine from Lakeland a couple of years ago and it does make very good bread. There are several options, and you can also just use it to make the dough and bake it in your own oven for a different shape, if preferred.

I have a Panasonic too. It makes fantastic bread with 100 wholemeal flour. I used to substitute nearly one tablespoon of white flour to help the rise. The only problem is that it is so delicious that it is easy to eat far too much. Weigh your portions and check the calories my advice. Used to also make ciabatta bread with olive oil with peppers tomatoes and onion on top. Yummy.

Hellooooo Slimforsummer. Thank you for replying. I will take a look at the Panasonic. So overall you prefer the taste of your homemade to shop bought?

100 Times better in taste and nutrition. Wholemeal keeps better in the freezer than white floor. If slicing better to do it the day after making or almost impossibile to do. Fatal to eat fresh out oven especially if half a pound of butter is hanging about. The malt and raisin bread is to die for. Enjoy!

I’ve never eaten any homemade bread that’s been any good!

Wife had a go few months back & I told her, your wasting your time & guess what, I was right. Lol.

Looked good, smelled great but tasted bad. So, what’s the secret?

The nearest place to us for a nice loaf is 40 miles away.

My mum used to make amazing bread when we were kids. This was of course long before breadmakers. I can almost smell the dough now as it sat for an hour or so to rise before being kneeded and put in the tins and the oven bread 🥖 🍞

I used to walk past a bakery on my way to school, not in a shopping area but an old terrace house, the ovens where in the basement & if you went down the side of the house you could look in & watch & yes the smell was amazing.

If I was lucky & had any money I could buy a currant tea cake on my way home, which by the way was a half mile very steep hill that we would jump on the back of a wagon going very slow up the hill, happy days

I would go for it. I tried gluten free bread and failed. But I must try normal bread again. You can add raisins anything. YouTube have lots of recipes. Good luck.
