Another interesting read:

Coincidentally I had avocado with an egg and a small tin of baked beans for lunch yesterday when I was looking for something quick and easy to make. My husband saw this photo and said “that’s a lot of beans” but it’s only a side plate, not a dinner plate 😃

I only had a 1/4 of the 450g tin of baked beans yesterday and it still looks like a lot on 5he plate. Am sure there the same as yours a very popular Australian brand, so I know how tasty they are.

Am in hotels for the next two days and will have to think on what I can make with the rest of tin when I get back.

Hi Kaz747

I think reading your post earlier today influenced my choice of evening meal, as I enjoyed some delicious Avocado, and it was scrumptious!

I think when discussing heart healthy food we need to differentiate between people with existing heart problems versus those who wish to maintain a healthy heart. Foods that are generally recommended as heart healthy can actually be very bad for those with conditions associated with bad heart health. I put avocados in that class.

If someone has a bad heart condition then advising them to eat avocados may be very bad for them. On the other hand for someone who is healthy the odd avocado is a good addition to meals.

Avocados are recommended by the Australian Heart Foundation

Hi andyswarbs. As with avocados, in all probability, it's the amount of fat that they have, which, I guess, could be detrimental because of the overall calorie count. The fats are, however, monounsaturated, which, depending on what you read, is good for you. Now, I think the only thing here is, they are still a type of omega 6 fat, and the current info "wars" of late say we get too much omega 6 type. This is a typical, as I would call it, and many others too, a symptom of something called "bro-science". That is to say, someone reads a study on the net on the latest and greatest new findings, which is not really new, because these so-called up-dated research findings are still going back and forth with the same info, to eat, or, not to eat. The term bro-science comes into play when someone reads one of these articles, then passes it along to others as "gospel truth". I've mentioned before that I really can't make heads nor tails with the constant back and forth with these types of information on fats and oils, to eat, or not to eat.

Ooo grilled avocado is pretty yummy too... Recommend it for your next try up :) just do slices cooked in a griddle pan.
