Queen Elizabeth II is going to be 93 next month. Would you like to know one of the secrets of her excellent health and longevity? That is her diet! Her diet can be described broadly as LCHF. It is not by design but by default. In the main meals (Lunch and Dinner) , strictly NO STARCH - no pasta, rice or potatoes. Her lunch consists of salad/vegetables and grilled fish/chicken. Typical dinner may be well done steak and vegetables. These are very similar to LCHF diets. She does have some toast once in a while in the breakfast. She has salmon and scrambled eggs also. She prefers small portions of whatever she takes. If we make a rough estimate of carb in her full day diet , it would be 50 -75 gm at the most - a very common LCHF diet during long term maintenance phase. Follow the link below for details:

HER MAJESTY'S DIET
Well .. breakfast and afternoon tea don't sound particularly low-carb, but my takeaway observation is this: eating spartan diets with all the nice bits removed is not the answer. She's eating a wide range of top-quality, enjoyable foods, she avoids basing all her meals on starch (completely contrary to official advice), and wouldn't touch a Pot Noodle with a bargepole. That seems to be all that's required.
Of course the Queen is just one person - it's a bit like pointing to your 93-year-old granddad and saying see, he's been smoking since he was 12 and he's still going strong! Even so, the Queen is active and neither overweight nor dangerously thin (ie., she's not merely alive) so she must be doing something right.

Apparently, Prince Philip has rather different ideas:
One year, Prince Philip came into the kitchen and saw two hampers. He eagerly opened one, asking whether it was the Harrods' hamper.
"Actually, no, Your Highness, this is a hamper from the Prince of Wales," responded McGrady. Seeing plums and vegetables and mushrooms, Prince Philip "slammed the lid down -- 'It's bloody organic' -- and he walked off," said McGrady.
Very interesting to see and read about what the Queen has for meals, Praveen55 . Thank you for posting this for everyone.😀👍
This is very interesting. After reading it I think the secret to her age is the fact that she keeps active with horse riding and walking her dogs, she probably also has good genes and keeps mentally active as well. Interesting post 🙂 Ali
That is true. The most important factor in longevity is genetic make-up which we can not change, at least at present time. However, diet also plays a very important role. The carbohydrate content in her diet is nowhere near the average level ( 300 gm) recommended by our health authority - so called balanced diet. We have to rethink if recommended diet is really a balanced diet!
You’re right and I think the recommended food diet wheel is too much of a personal thing for it to be one size fits all. I know I only have to look at bread and I put on weight. My dad did low carb and got rid of type two diabetes it worked for him and I’m vegan which maybe wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea but it works for me. Everyone is different 👍🙂
I think she's also very active, and imagine that plays a part
The champagne and dark chocolate probably help!
Another reason for her longevity is of course being amongst the wealthiest people on the planet with possibly the best health insurance plan to boot.
She doesn’t ail though does she? She looks after her health Clearly she’s doing well on it. Her teeth look fantastic 😃
