I am trying to do a better job pre-planning dinner for the week (for myself and my wife). We find that we end up winging dinner, and it makes it hard, and we often just get takeaway. (Doesn't help the waistline!) Does anyone have any methods/tips/website/apps that help them? Thank you! (we are in the UK if that makes a difference)

Welcome to the Healthy eating forum. It's great that you and your wife are trying to do some pre-planning for your meals - maybe have a look at our various Topics - and you'll see some ideas you like there? We also have some Pinned posts which are worth a look - so have a look around. We all share meal ideas and tips etc.
Regarding apps, maybe have a look at the NHS Change4Life website - it has different meal ideas too:
I find i do best when i plan my meals for the week ahead on a friday
I factor in all my breakfasts lunches & dinners along with snacks and drinks & make a shopping list. I shop usually on a sat morning & dont deviate from my list.
I use an app called My Fitness Pal (free) which i input my meals into and it tots up my calories. It also syncs my fitbit so i see an approximate amount if calories earned from exercise
I find that doing it this way saves me money too as im making meals to suit what i buy so im not wasting any food !
