Hi Debbie. I have scarred kidneys and low lupus diagnosis. I go from state 2 to stage 3 kidney disease back and forth. My dr told me I might have to do dialysis someday. And then I went back to stage 1. Ugh.
I know I have to stay away from green tea, dandelion tea. As these are diuretics. No alcohol.
I also read to eat less protein. So, I am sort of trying to eat a little fish several times a week, and only chicken some other days. (I need protein or I will starve).More veggies. I recently have started collard greens, but have to be sure as to not eat too many, as they are a diuretic. But , find that the fluid in my shins goes down if I eat some. I don’t eat carbs , no rice , or pasta.
It’s really hard.
I also read a short report on how, I believe it was Japan, that is using heat to help with kidney function. I’m not recommending to not use dialysis, but I’ve tried this method, and feel it helped my kidneys. I sit with a heating pad on my kidneys for 1/2 hour every day. I haven’t in the summer because of the heat, but definitely in the fall, winter , spring.
Probably best to eat modestly. I feel your pain. I am hoping that I will not have to do dialysis someday. Good luck to you, and hope things work out.
I’m sure you could follow a kidney disease diet.
