How to exercise and remain healthy in winter

I am looking to lose 10kg to bring my BMI into healthy index. Just started a recent cycle of eating healthy. Lost 1kg and feeling good with the small steps.

However my biggest challenge is not summer, but winter months. In the past, have always lost weight in summer and pile in winter.

In summer, I walk more, swim and do Couch to 5K. In winter, I hibernate... Can't stand cold and rain, so no walking outdoors but I don't like gyms either. I prefer solitary exercise rather than exercising in front of others.

Any suggestions how I can exercise in winter to keep the weight off, without gyms.

Walk up and down stairs. Do bodyweight exercises (found on YouTube) buy suspension bands or resistance bands, buy weights or a treadmill or indoor bike. There lots if vids you can follow on YouTube, yoga etc etc.

Hi NY2016

Welcome to the Healthy eating forum. Hidden has already given you some excellent suggestions. I also think that doing body-weight exercises at home are great - I try to do press-ups, squats and similar exercises, and find them helpful.

There is a 'fitness studio' of exercises in NHS Choices, and a link is here, if you'd like to take a look - all are free and easy to use:

I'd also like to Congratulate you on losing 1kg, and it's great to know you're feeling good - wishing you success with your goals, and enjoy the remainder of the Summer - hopefully you'll be inspired and exercising throughout the Autumn and Winter too - and feeling great for it!

Zest :-)
