Very new to this. My name is Patrick and I have type 2 diabetes and want some advice/help on losing weight and dealing with a diet that is low in carbs. I cannot do without bread and potatoes as I have had them all my life as part of meals and cutting them out or even cutting down has proved impossible. I eat brown bread only and boil my potatoes. However losing weight has been very difficult and now I am on medication for my daibetes having failed to control it by diet alone. I do exercise but that does not help much in losing weigth. I am fairly healthy otherwise for my age ,77 next birthday but would like to get to a healthy weight and not be classed as overweight as this would help I know with diabetes.

Hi digbypat ,
Welcome to the group.
There’s a few groups on the HU site that deal with Diabetes. You can always check them out and click on the follow button for the group (s) you want to join. They are:
Diabetes India: healthunlocked.com/diabetes...
Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation: healthunlocked.com/drwfdiab...
DRWF also has free leaflets for Diabetes information that can be downloaded, listened to and/or read anytime. The leaflets are on drwf.org.uk/understanding-d...
I hope this helps!😀👍
