I always have my tomatoes room temperature, and I eat them often😍. Didn’t know about apples though, any reason given why they are better off in the fridge?

Apples can turn brown and wrinkle if left out of the refridgerator too many days. They taste still okay, but may not look as pretty.

Hi Hidden ,
I would also like to know the reason why apples would be better kept in the fridge, so hope you'll tell us.

AFAIK it's to stop them respiring. Apples can be (and are) stored literally for months if kept at the right temperature.
Not so sure about tomatoes though. I seem to recall reading an experiment that recommends keeping them at room temperature for best flavour.

Certain brands of cherry tomatoes are suppose to stay outside of the fridge and others are made to be put inside of it.

O what's he called? That sounds interesting.
There's a guy down Chichester way who does a two day foraging course I always wanted to do. Does the book cover that?

...Sorry! James Wong obviously! I thought that was you and you owned a restaurant or cafe called 'totos'. (I've skipped two coffees today)

absolutely agree with the botanist guy..
tomatoes carry on ripening out the fridge and have more flavour even in this hot they last a long time before they start going bad.
apples, pears, oranges and such like stay fresh and dont lose there flavour for a long time if kepted in the cooler draws in the fridge.
this ture even in a cooler climate like England.
