I cannot eat milk from cows, sheep or other animals that give milk, nor can I tolerate milk, cheese, butter or other dairy

I have liver damage from a virus infection.

I am trying to eat and be vegan and was looking for help and advice as money is tight

Hi eastofllanddwyn ,

Welcome to the Healthy eating forum. There are some Vegan recipes and meal ideas in our Topics - and there is also some information in this link (which is from NHS Choices - which this forum is linked to):

I hope that's a good starting point, and I hope you have a good look around our forum too.

There's a lot of information on The Vegan Society's website, which is an excellent resource for nutrition as well as recipes..

healthunlocked.com/healthye...

Try Food Monster's website, too: onegreenplanet.org/foodmons... There's an app, & information for lots of different recipes, though it's one of hundreds of vegan sites.

You may find there's a local Vegan/Vegetarian support group near where you live, should you want to meet up with other folks. It can be useful for finding good places to shop, :)

There are also lots of companies that sell animal.cruelty free nutrients. Most vegans I know use tasty nutritional yeast for extra B's & essential B12: healthunlocked.com/healthye......

It might be hard when you're adjusting to a change in diet, but try to avoid processed vegan foods such as margarine & meat substitutes.

I repaired my liver with a mountain of avocado. That's not necessarily a cheap option and I wouldn't do it now. But they are high in Vitamin E.

Another option is to juice vegetables. This can be very cheap. Btw by juicing I mean removing the pulp. This process helps takes stress off the liver.

Whatever to repair the liver reduce protein intake (again to reduce stress), just make sure you get enough calories to maintain your energy levels.

Rather than repeat it, here is one blog on the subject of best plants etc to help the liver recover. sunwarrior.com/healthhub/li...

Forgot to introduce myself, I’m Angharad (Angie for short) and thank you all for the input.

I’m eating a lot of avocado (4 for 1.59 in ALDI) because I can’t think of anything else to put on my butty at lunch time 🤐 and beetroot too which I cook and then blend in the Bullet with apple juice. I also blend rocket/spinach and juice carrots. I will look at that link and read up, thank you 😊
