Been told by my GP that I need to reduce my Cholesterol. It's at 6.2 he would like to see it down to 5. Is anyone doing/done the same?

Hi Ray71 ,

Welcome to the Healthy Eating forum. There is a forum specifically for 'Cholesterol Support' and a link is here, incase you want to have a look:

healthunlocked.com/choleste...

Also, there is some information about Lowering Cholesterol in the NHS Choices website, and a link is here - it might be useful to you:

nhs.uk/Livewell/Healthyhear...

I just wanted to give you those links, as potential sources of helpful information.

Zest :-)

Only in the US is cholesterol reported in mg/dL as you said - elsewhere it's normally in mmol/L.

In the UK the recommended upper limit for total cholesterol is 5.0 mmol/L

Hubby got his cholesterol to a good level by cutting out sugar, going for the high fibre foods, limiting alcohol, increasing his activity level. He didn't cut down much on fats, so still eating butter and olive oil, although some people may need to cut down more.

There's a lot of debate around the subject!
