I'm cutting down on all added sugar and not eating any processed foods (unless its unavoidable at someone's home). Being T2 diabetic and overweight I've found that this is actually working for me, so I cook from scratch and make my own soda bread (no sugar in it like ordinary bread). I do have the odd treat, a cream muffin after shopping on a Friday, maybe one ice cream a week and occasionally a slice or two of crusty white bread, but in the main smaller portions, cutting back on the carbohydrates (less potatoes, pasta and rice than I used to have) and eating good fats like avocados :).
Overall I eat everything in moderation, generally on a smaller plate and 2 pieces of fruit a day maximum (lots of fructose in fruit) and bulk up on good vegetables.
Hope that helps.
Don't think of it as a diet think of it as a lifestyle change and eat more natural foods and no processed foods. you would be surprised how much more you can eat. eating natural foods and eat foods that are nutrient dense and low in calories
Lchf diet.
Try cutting out everything processed, & count your nutrients rather than calories.
