Hi 2564ajennir ,

Have a look at the NHS Choices 'Healthy Eating' pages as a starting point - and if you would like to be part of a weekly weigh-in group or more focused activities, then I'd recommend having a look at the 'NHS weight loss forum' (also on Healthunlocked).

I think the NHS 12 week plan has great structure and lots of pointers for losing weight steadily, and healthily.

Wishing you success with your goals.

If you come across any great healthy recipes, I hope you'll share them in this Healthy eating forum, as I'm always looking out for ideas. :-)

Fats are not your enemy, well, not the good sorts, but I'd avoid margarines like the plague due to the trans fat issue, they're only one molecule removed from plastics. The other thing to avaoid is any of the so called 'diet' drinks which actually cause a carbohydrate craving and contain aspartame which turns into formalin in the body. Not nice.

It's un-needed carbohydrates which cause the problem. You're right about eating as naturally as possible however it can be counterproductive sometimes to change everything at once and end up feeling hungry and then swinging back to old eating habits.

There are a lot of healthy meal shakes around today (and a lot of unhealthy ones too). Some are based on all natural ingredients and without fillers and artificial colours etc. What you need to ensure is that they contribute to stable blood sugar, thus avoiding cravings

Have a look at the 'Green Essence Supreme' and the 'Rice Vitale' from Buzzin' Health (buzzinhealth.co.uk) & good luck!

There is no much nonsense, often created by those who want to sell you something, about weight loss that it is difficult to believe any of it. Just remember this simple fact - whatever you put into your body must either be converted to energy, converted into fat, or ultimately expelled as waste. Keep this thought in mind when preparing a meal and think what you are about to put into your body is likely to do. Then feed it only with the natural products it was designed to live on, i.e. fruit, nuts, vegetables, seeds, plus just a little meat and fish.

If it is not produced by nature when it is on your table avoid it. I am still looking for tins, packets, sachets, boxes, cartons, bottles, etc. growing in the wild and after 83 years have not found a single one. Seriously, stick seriously to natural food and your weight problems as well as many other health issues will almost certainly disappear.
