Eat Your Potatoes: Nature Doesn’t Make Junk Food
I think we need to be careful about making blanket statements like "nature does not make junk food" - just because something is natural doesn't automatically make it healthy, there are lots of natural toxins, and plants that are either toxic or toxic unless prepared correctly.
interesting post and an interesting reply from Concerned.
i suppose both studies are right.

I think this article has to be read with some "common sense " (if there is such a thing!) and with some balance. The writer is not a scientist or an academic - but a functioning human being who has been in the world of running/racing marathons for decades and has therefore a great interest in nutrition. Of course, there are toxic natural substances - eg hemlock -- but this article talks about a recognised food plant potatoes which has been and still is in places a major source of carbohydrates. Yes - there are different forms of carbs - but once again, consumption in moderation is the key. Beware of "only this or only that" advocates.
Different foods have benefits if eaten in moderation and in balance. Pork chops are good - they have all that lovely protein which we need - but too many pork chops are bad because they have all that animal fat.
Well said Bazza1234. What on earth is wrong with the humble potato? We've been eating them for years and years; I do have to say avoid chips cooked in polyunsaturated oils.
