First week over ...

Well, I have done one week on my diet and I feel I have done well. Although I seem to have managed to hurt my back last Thurs, making me less mobile, I seemed to have lost 6lb in my first week. I am chuffed.

I can honestly say this site has been an inspiration. The stories, the encouragement and the feeling that there are other people having the same thoughts/fears as me. The little nodules of tips, and phrases have helped to ... which has meant I haven't picked once whilst cooking, and I've not dipped into the grandkids choc tray. Writing down what I eat does light up the little and often habits I have - especially on the days I thought I was being good. I am keeping up with my food tracking, my 'water' alert and my 'go for a stroll' alert. I am keeping my food easy for the moment, although I can see there are quite a few inviting recipes out there ... but when you have a fussy hubby, I have to introduce these things slowly he-he.

Well, anyway, a 6lb loss - great stuff. Now on to the second week, with a smile 😊

Super duper - well done you!  I'm chuffed for you and off to start writing everything down.  Thank you for helping me realise I can!  I cheat and pretend I don't - rubbish!!! New day today.  Thanks for the inspiration.

Ha-ha, I know that feeling ... you do cheat, it's bound to happen. Some days you take it on the chin but others you kind of deny. It's just a case of getting back on track, and starting anew. I have all this good advice, fingers crossed I listen to myself :)

GREAT NEWS!

Start your day with a protein meal, it will keep you feeling fuller for longer livestrong.com/article/2801... (only ignore the bit about eating low fat - low fat is higher per portion in sugars).

Another way to fill yourself up is to turn whatever you were going to eat into a soup - itsoktoeat.com/soup-keeps-y... - it doesn't work very well for crisps or ice cream ;)

Adding lemon to your water, whether hot or cold,  also helps keep your metabolism humming (though rinse out afterwards to avoid the fruit acid effecting your tooth enamel).  Drinking lemon water whenever possible and especially before meals can lower blood sugar spikes by about 10%, making it less likely your body will store carbohydrates and sugars as fat.  It can also help detox your liver, which is why your metabolism runs more efficiently. huffingtonpost.ca/shannon-k...

Water can be substituted with other drinks that have no/low calories, there are 2 calories in a cup of black coffee, 1 in black tea but none at all in green tea authoritynutrition.com/gree...
