Ditto, BigLeg, fat won't make you fat. It fills you up.

Don't worry about it. People who are trained in food/nutrition/health stuff usually are trained according to old school philosophies that have failed miserably. The idea that fat makes you fat has been around for decades, but just look around if you want to see what the low fat diet has done to us. Official recommendations for a high carb low fat diet just don't work- obesity and diabetes have run rampant anyway.

The tide is finally turning with all kinds of research, books, etc proving just the opposite- low carb high fat is what works, the cholesterol scare is a scam (statins will eventually destroy your mind and your muscles), and you will harm your health without healthy fats. I need my brain, so I eat eggs and cheese!! And I put half and half in that stripped plain yogurt to get it "fatted" back up. I use lots of olive oil on salad with my own choice of herbs, etc to make my own salad dressing, and use coconut oil to cook with. There are several fat soluble vitamins you will be deficient in with a fat free diet, calcium will not be absorbed, and your brain can't function without cholesterol. Your body HAS to have fat to function properly.

After my brother told me he lost over 70 pounds by cutting the carbs, I tried it myself. It works. If you like to read, find Fat Chance or Big Fat Surprise at your library or on amazon. It will amaze you- all the science is there. Like one researcher quoted in that last book said, we've been hosed by the food manufacturers, the "official" voices of various organizations, by the government, by the drug companies, etc, etc. Follow the money!

I agree with all the above its so hard to believe that eating fat can help you lose fat but it works, ditch the carbs you will still get what you need with veg and berry's.

cheese, except timy bits of parmesan or a small bit of crumbled feta, a small portion of low fat cream, all other cheese is my enemy. I love it, but its packed with calories and it really doesn't fill you up, Its got protein too, but there are lots of things you can eat with the same protein and less fat, a chiken breast (without skin) is less than half the calories as same weight of cheddar (4oz, 100g) nd is 10% fat as opposed to 75 fat, chees has almost no carbs and neither does chicken, calories are energy, eat less calories you need to burn less energy, so if you maintain activity you lose more weight, of course youhave to be motivated, so if you skip cheese youdont just turn to chocolate!

Hi Henry! I love eating cheese too! But based on my research, here it is:

Cheese has the potential to be a fattening food because it contains a large amount of fat. Fat provides nine calories per gram, while protein and carbohydrates provide four. As a result, foods with a higher fat content contain more calories, and eating too much may cause weight gain. So if you want to gain weight, you should eat cheese! But of course, vise versa. :)

You find it helpful anyway?
