I now have memory issues in my dreams as well as in daily life.
Yesterday I dreamt that I went to see a band. It was a band from the 80’s. A well known band. I was there, knowing all the songs . Later in my dream I had returned home and couldn’t remember the name of the band or any of their songs.
I spent a long time in my dream trying to work out which band I’d just seen. I couldn’t work it out.
When I woke up, I then tried to work out what band it was but I couldn’t.
At least I’m consistent 😂

Oh wow once again as yes I don’t really enjoy time with others and definitely not new people .. the ones who now me are used to me shutting my eyes with my head down attempting to find the write words and swearing with frustration and trying to find the funny side … if they only knew that I just can’t / don’t do this with strangers .. that is beyond frustrating and I haven’t got the time to go into why my head doesn’t work and you trying to find the word I can’t really isn’t helping and I actually want to tell you to shut up ( I haven’t as yet ) but my anger side isn’t so good and am sure it will happen one day 🤔 I look forward to time in my own as it is so much simpler then with others who just don’t have a clue Sue 😊
3 years ago yesterday 4th March 2021, I had a large tumour removed from my front right temple lobe. It had been growing for 25 years albeit slowly.
So although you had a Traumatic Brain Injury, mine is referred to Acquired Brain Injury.
I will not go into more details other than I have discovered the Brain is capable of rewiring itself with a lot of rehab and positive mental attitude.
Let me reassure you that I too had lots of dreams some were of me “getting up super early to drive the M25 to open a course and talk to 100 people.
In my dream I was still doing that successfully, planning route, planning and delivering to sessions at the conference. THEN , I woke up and at 77yrs old now , I was relieved it was just a dream.
However, having had my Tumour removed, and as my Brain was healing, I found that I had many sleepless nights when old memories were coming back and situations and names.
So much so that I had a paper and pen by my bed and could not sleep until I had off loaded them to my paper pad.
So be patient with your Traumatic Brain Injury your reactions to the trauma accident are normal.
With the help from various charities such as Headway courses and home exercises for my brain even just sticking to a timetable and writing a shopping list etc.
Which might seem trivial to others are good exercise for our Brains.
I try to use all 5 of my senses everyday and note them.
Sight. 5 things I see
Hear. 5 things I hear
Taste. 5 things taste
Smell. 5 things I smell
Touch. 5 things I touch
By doing this it keeps me in the Present …
I am grateful to be alive and although I will always have HIDDEN BRAIN INJURIES, I find wearing the green lanyard with sunflowers on it, and an explanation of my communication needs helps.
As it is recognised my shops, transport and people have more patience with me .
Good luck with your dreams, it’s your Brain healing.
If you can not feel comfort from my words seek help from Headway Counselling or Groups.
After my brain injury I felt cheated that I'd stopped dreaming ; I'd always loved analysing my dreams. I later came to understand that, apart from vague glimpses here & there, I just can't remember my dreams. I really miss my lost nightly adventures !
On the subject of poor short term memory, today I needed to check details of my phone contract and I struggled so much with remembering basic details that I had to hang up ! 😲
What a luxury it is to come here and give my brain however much time it needs to engage......🙂 x
