My close friends relapse

My close friend suffered severe ĥead injuries 17 days ago in a hit and run accident and is still in the ICÙ.Yesterday Dr's had to re increase his sedation because ĥe became agitated

This feels like we've gone one step back, this is frustrating for myself and his family

This is far from unusual Purple. It's a fine balance reducing the medication, often needing a few attempts at tailing off.

Next time, hopefully, doctors will either slow the waking process down or increase the calming medication to ease the impact of consciousness for your friend.

Hang in there ; it can be a painstaking process..

Yes, the “up and down” path is typical and I will say it is time that is needed for the brain to find diversionary workarounds to any damage. Obviously its very early days and the medics wil often take the precautionary and pessimistic view to avoid building false hopes.

So patience is a virtue and the best possible outcomes cannot be guaranteed but do keep the faith and I will say the neuros do seem to know best, so he is in the best place possible at present.
