Things have gone from bad to worse the last few weeks. Tried prozac but came off after a week was bad head and very hungry all the time even though I felt sick. Voices started in my head at first then coming from television and audio devices. Given diazepam short term. I started to self harm and the voices told me to do bad things. Had assessment at hollins park hospital on Saturday then team of 3 doctors came to my house yesterday and sectioned me under section 2. No beds yet available from merseycare mental health but will go straight in when we get the call. Very worried cos its now law and I have to comply. Thankfully I want treatment and the voices are agreeing and not making it difficult. Trying not to think to much about it. Hope I have a room on my own. Thanks for reading.
Have been sectioned under section 2: Things have... - Headway
Have been sectioned under section 2
That's rotten luck Dave. It's really hard to take when nothing seems to work, and I know you've persevered. But I hope you'll be admitted really soon, and that the doctors can find suitable meds and offer some kindness and reassurance.
Try to stay strong and hopeful that there is help out there and you'll have direct access to it.
Please keep us updated on how you're doing...
Thinking of you, Cat x
They phoned twice yesterday and beds were becoming available so am expecting probably today. Thanks.
Good ; the sooner the better to get you assessed watchfully. It's so much easier monitoring symptoms day to day than once in a while, or by the ever popular telephone appointments.
Section 2 is 28 days isn't it Dave, so hopefully enough time to find you better suited treatment ; and one which lifts your mood permanently There will be one - it's just more trial & error unfortunately.
The very best of luck m'love...🍀

Hi Dave
Sounds like really tough time. Hope things go smoothly and you get the help you want.
One thing I remember from working on Mind information line long long time ago is that if you get sectioned, twhen you are later discharged back home the hospital has a legal duty to make sure you have a care plan in place and care manager to manage it. This plan should set out the help that you need (e.g. counselling, community psychiatric nurseto visit etc) and who will provide it.
So might be worth asking hospital about this as may make things easier when you get back home and need extra support.
Also if sectioned (at least if section is not just for assessment) I think you are entitled to legal representative while in hospital. Might be worth asking about this as that person could help ensure that you have the care plan and support in place and also help you to get discharged when you feel ready.
But I worked on Mind line one holiday a long time ago and so not sure if law has changed since then.
Any way take care and hope things go well.

They are coming for me at 1pm today. Its a unit attached to Whiston hospital near Knowsley.
Being sectioned really is the best situation for you at the moment .. you will be very much in the medical system and although it maybe scary at first you will also have staff there who can help get you on the right meds … with the NHS the way it is at the moment unfortunately many people are invisible to the help they so desperately need .. you won’t be invisible and the right meds willl make your life so much easier . Listen to them and be honest about how you are feeling .. sue x
Oh so pleased you’re now in your room . Yes please keep us updated will be thinking of you .. sue
Dave, I am thinking of you. I hope the voices remain agreeable while they hang around. Well done being calm about this -it's the best way - now you will get help and not be stuck at home. Take good care.
