Hi Jill,Without considering mobility or budget but solely environment, I would recommend a trip on our inland waterways. If boat handling is beyond your capabilities, there are hotel boats that ply the canals and look after your needs while allowing you to get off and help to work the locks if you wish. We used to own a share in a narrowboat and my wife would love to feed the carp and watch the kingfishers feeding whilst she had her morning cuppa. Obviously the inner city moorings are less tranquil but there are plenty outside the towns at which one could tie up if hiring. Why not have a chat to friends and family and split the cost?

I just kind of get what you are asking... I had a double bleed to the brain about 1 year ago and I am so desperate for peace. The truth is I just think I need peace from myself... I almost feel I want to be in full time care but that is ridiculous - just so exhausted most of the time and pretty down really but it seems that my loved ones have got bored of my injury now and want me to get back to doing all the stuff I never really wanted to do before - sorry Jill777 - this is not at all useful - it's just when I read your post.... Well, that's what I feel - life was hard before but now it feels impossible and, well you know... I really hope you find an answer for dealing with everything and thank you for posting and I wish you well ❣️

Hi, I find that if I read I relax totally, but I have to be in a room on my own to do that as I cannot switch off from any noises and conversation around me. I don't remember most of what I read, I forget characters, the plot, most details, but as I am reading I feel relaxed as my brain is only concentrating on one thing. Also listening to music, it has to be instrumental as I cannot switch off if there is singing.

Hope this helps a bit, if I think of any more I will let you know.

Just thought of something else, do you have a summer house in your garden that you could sit in and maybe watch birds on a birdfeeder or in a birdbath?

Hi Haverfordwest,With the explosion of advice everywhere about “mindfulness” (whatever the blazes that means), the healing effects of Mother Nature have been highlighted and I am not going to dispute them. From my armchair in which I am imprisoned I enjoy watching the birds as you describe and the odd surprise visitor like a woodpecker thrills. The activity outside helps maintain an equilibrium.

Hope you find something to relax to, it is different for everyone but hopefully you can take little bits from all the suggestions. Maybe if you can't read an audiobook would be possible and you can sit there with your eyes closed. I find if I'm listening to something I start looking round and my focus is on other things them.
