I had got a titanium mesh for a cranioplasty screwed on me and it doesn’t make sense as to why is it so thin and it bends so easy as to I accidentally slept on side if it and now theres been a big dent on it are these things even long lasting will they break easy for a slightly bump on it.If you can tell me from your experienced or knowledge how long can there last if taken care of long and cam it take a slightly hit on it without breaking. Why coulda I just got a titanium plate instead. Can one choose a titanium mesh or plate right before surgery ??

Hi, there are a number of related posts on this subject over a number of years. Most have similar concerns as yourself. There are a few familiar people that have responded. The responses may raise other worries, so if you do read these, remember that many have probably resolved there concerns now, but they may give you direct contact with people that have been in your situation. I have the related posts on the top right of my screen, I would hope that they appear in a similar place from your post. Hope this helps.

I've heard many comments about how easily titanium can bend and I can only imagine how troubling it is. I'm a bit biased about it as I have titanium coils and forever grateful for that, but I wouldn't be nearly so happy about dents in my skull.

I know it's an incredibly strong and durable material and apparently less of an infection risk. But as it's also pliable for the purpose of moulding into a specific position I guess this is a common problem.

Have you had the opportunity to voice your concern with your consultant ? You can access him/her by phoning their secretary and asking for a telephone appt.

Best wishes, Cat...
