Unexplained Chronic Bilatral Subdural Haematoma

In Nov 2016 I went to drs about flu symtoms and a dizzy spell and got diagnosed with Labyrinthitis. A week later the headaches arrived. I was at drs about once a week complaining of headaches, migranes, 2 more dizzy spells and generaly feeling so unwell. Up to mid Feb 2017 I was diagnosed with Virus, Sinuses, Vestibular Migrane. I was referred to ENT to which offered me a scan that came through for 1st March!!! The scan revealed about 3 brain bleeds. I was admitted to Queens Sq in London 3 weeks later to which a Crainiotomy was carried out on the left side of my head to remove a 17mm Haematoma. I now have a Titanium plate over the repair of my skull. The 9mm haematoma on the right side has been left to self absorb by itself and making great progress. All scans so far show good recovery. I still get tightenings and some pressure in my head. Is this normal???

Why do these random bleeds with no impact happen???

Diet???

I was 43, physically fit, No medication.

Anyone else in the same boat as me???

Thanks xx

HI Donnamaria. I think you need to ask your doctors why you had the bleeds to get a reliable answer. In my case I have an abnormal tangle of arteries and veins in my brain called an AVM. It was discovered when I had an MRI scan. I know if it ruptures it will cause a bleed. I don't know all the ins and outs of haematomas though. Sorry!

Im always asking Why? And just seem to get nowhere 'These things can just happen' is all I get. It may happen again or it may not. All veins are healthy up there again for a woman of my age. I still would like to know the cause so hoping other cases similar may help.

Yes of course. I can entirely understand that and hope you get the response you want/need. I'll keep an eye on the post too cos it may benefit me! I agee, it is really frustrating when you keep being told 'its just one of those things' and 'you were just the unlucky one'. I think the real answer is that they just don't know what to say!

Unfortunately sometimes the answer is that we just don't know why.

Never found out why I had my cvst (blood clot on the brain) , so just have to live with it.

Hopefully neither of us will have recurrence of the major issues....but we are all human.

You are being seen by the experts so this is good....and you have found a great support group here.

Have you asked for a community neuro rehab team consultation ?

Take care
