Struggling to adjust

Post 11 years of getting used to the adjustments required to live with CRPS and enjoy life, a subsequent SAH has floored me. I can no longer manage my pain effectively by a combination of meds and the distraction of losing myself in books and nature. As I now get headaches if I read for too long or it's sunny outside. Need some suggestions of other things to do that don't involve: expenses, staring at a screen, fast moving images, bright lights or noise I can't control. Any idead????

Hi sahsurvivor, I too struggle daily with head pain, it is in varying degrees and I manage because I have to. I have recommenced tipimirrate instead of amitryptiline so we will see how that goes. Seems strange in this day and age that we can’t control pain better. I have a bad cold at the moment and I dread sneezing, feels like my head is going to explode, the pain is horrendous, anything which puts pressure like bending down, coughing, blowing nose etc, is pretty bad, hope you get some improvement love Alice xx

Thanks Alice,I know how your feeling. I still struggle with bending down though thankfully I can now cope with sneezing. Post op was a problem with the other symptoms of hay fever- in hospital they insisted on keeping the windows open it drove me insane!

Yoga and meditation helped me to ease the busy mind - it helped decrease intensity of head aches. The Love your brain website was great - I found the yoga instructor very calming. Walks wearing sunglasses and a cap - even when not sunny helped with all over brightness.changing screens to dark mode helped to when I needed to email etc. and heat pack on shoulders seemed to bring my nervous system down so wasn’t on such high alert all the time . Hope something here helps.

Hi, probably a daft idea, because you have probably already done this. I would discuss the difficulties you are experiencing with the team that treated your SAH, also contact Headway helpline.

Sadly you are right about joined up thinking, but that is something that we are strong at, fighting for answers. Talking to Headway may have some help to offer?
