Just a quick question. I am 5 months into recovering from a brain abscess which required a burr hole aspiration. I have a number of ongoing symptoms, although most are not debilitating.
A new thing that seems to have sprung up over the last few days is muscle twitching around my eye area, particularly eyebrows. These are very small but extremely frequent little 'tremors' constantly going on that are quite distracting and really causing difficulty with sleeping, which was a challenge anyway, along with increasing my headaches.
I am considering reaching out to my GP but wanted to give it a few more days before bothering them yet again (plus I have neurologist appointment in just under 2 weeks anyway) but was curious as to whether anyone on here had experienced any muscle twitching during their recovery?
Thanks

A twitching eye is usually an overactive nerve, in your case maybe due to some disruption from the surgery ? It's quite common and can be caused by damage, stress or medication.
I suspect your GP would ask you to see how it goes for a couple of weeks and refer you on (possibly to a neurologist) if it continued. So it's good you're due an appointment with your neurologist at an opportune time !
Meantime you could try an ice pack when it's troublesome. Hope you get it sorted Matt.......it's an annoying issue. Cat x
Just realised I never replied, not even to thank you for your response. Apologies! After a month of it occurring and a blood test that only showed some borderline white blood level count, it seemed to disappear. However, still can't sleep very well so will have to fine something else to blame! 🤣 thanks!
I think sleep is my biggest frustration of all at the moment and it sounds like you're suffering more than I. You would think your body would want to sleep now more than ever but alas not. I'll let you know if I find anything that works.
Thanks M4. My new year's resolution will be cutting down on screen time an hour before bed.
I keep hearing the advice about 'sleep hygiene' but my laptop has been such a massive source of comfort, especially throughout the weirdness of 2020 and, ironically, during the sleepless nights ! 😵
