Hi everyone I had the craniotomy for clipping of unruptured aneurysm on right middle cerebral artery on Monday the 4th of November . It was an 8 hour operation, I have pulled through without any major complications, just a few minor like fatigue and memory and a sore head etc. The surgeon was very happy with how it went .So bed rest and sleep is all I am able for at the moment. The past 7 months have been the toughest time of my life. I do feel relief but I don't think it has sunk in yet that I am on the other side! Also I am going to keep my head shaved at the side for a while and embrace my new hair style. Onwards and upwards from here I hope . Oh I have no movement of my eyebrow on the side of the clipping but I am sure it will mend over time .

Great news Sharon. Yes, it's hard taking in the enormity of the situation and it'll take a while yet ! Just concentrate for now on resting, regular healthy eating and loads of fluids. Take care m'dear….Cat,
welcome home hun , i had same operation in september , but with some complications ,im just startin to feel a bit stronger emotionally and physically , we are all different and recover differently , all i can say is listen to your body rest drink plenty just take ur time and good luck xx
Thanks it's great to be home. Also glad you are feeling better I am looking up 2/3 week sun holidays for straight after Christmas but won't book anything until I see my neurosurgeon in 5 or 6 weeks first
your welcome , i know the struggle you will go threw so if you need to vent im here , i hope you have family and freinds to help you on your journey , good idea dont over do it as it might set your recovery back , im doing what my body allows , the meds im on dont help with my fatigue though , i love sleep lol keep well xx
i don't come on very often nowadays but made a rare appearance and saw about your craniotomy heading.....
I had mine back in 2013 for brain abscess right temporal area shaped like a horseshoe followed by an infection which i had to have bore holes to drain the infection, and i've kept my hair shaved since, one being i can't be doing with growing it and having to dye it even though the rest of my style is longer/highlighted alot easier.
So you don't really notice that it's shaved underneath, unless when i put my hair up,i wear my scar with pride, also i'm an ex colour technician hairdresser so i'm used to extreme styles....lol
Good to see you back home so quickly, i was in hospital 2 months including getting my hairdresser friend to cut my longish hair short, sneaked into the toilets and did it there, looked so much better than one side shaved and the other starting to look like dreadlocks.
Even now after all this time i get good days and bad, maybe partly due to having petit mal seizures which you wouldn't notice.
It's good to get plenty of sleep, rest, light exercise(walking),plenty of fluids to stop dehydration and a good healthy diet.
Also everyone is different in their recovery, one of the main things is try not to get to anxious(easier said than done ) i found writing my feelings/symptoms down helped specially when i had visits to the Dr i had everything wrote down i needed to ask.
Hi Mandy that was difficult for you 2 months in hospital with infection 🙁. I am going to get the staples out tomorrow, it looks clean so fingers crossed 🤞. My sister is a hair dresser so she is gonna help me with my hair . Went shopping today for hair bands/hats etc so at least it's a good time of year to wear them! I over did it though, I am sure people thought I was drunk. 😊
Hi sharon I had a crainiotomy also on my right side to clip anterior communicating artery dec 17th 2019. 4 weeks on and I too cannot move my eye brow my eye has dropped a little and is still very bruised. Fatigue is a killer and the list of other problems could go on. I have a dint in my forehead too. I wish more info was available to us all, maybe the whole thing would be easier to live with. I too have also shaved my head and maybe keeping it this way too. Vanity sure does go out the window. All we can do is keep pushing through all it brings
The good news is the movement is just coming back in my eyebrow this week so I am sure you will be the same ! 😊 I also have a dent in my forehead but we won't worry about that , I got a side fringe! Fatigue is still an issue for me as well . I have had a sore stiff left leg since Christmas 🤷♀️. My gp is sending me for an MRI. He doesn't think it's anything to do with my head although I think it is . He won't let me go for physio until then. My hair is growing back well I am also wearing it to the side or nice head bands in ! Do you have any issues with pain since your craniotomy?
Hi sharon, yes I still have some pain more twinges and my scalp dont feel like it belongs to me. I spoke with my nurse yesterday about my eye brow as its bruising again and when I eat it's like my taste buds are under attack it's a odd really, anyway my nurse spoke with the surgeon and he said all this is to be expected and everything should be back to normal by 8 weeks after the surgery I'm at the end of week 4 now. The worries I have are if things dont go back to how they were, how do I get my G.P to help, as past experiences he blames every thing on depression and anxiety, like the fatigue he says is from anxiety and depression. Just glad to hear I'm not alone . Joanne
