I have multiple brain aneurysms all monitored and one successfully coiled last year. My question is that I have developed Pulsatile Tinnitus on the same side as my 2 aneurysms of the carotid artery.
Has anyone also suffered this and if so if or how was it treated ie coiling/surgery (clipping) my vascular surgeon probably wants to do an angiogram with dye.. if it’s nothing to do with ENT
ahhhh terrified ... all over again

I have 'standard' tinnitus (constant white noise) since suffering a perforated ear drum many years ago. But when my blood pressure is too high, the noise does become rhythmic & pulsates in time with my heartbeat.
I'm not really grasping the link between the Pulsatile tinnitus and the aneurism, as for me the two have remained quite separate, and my tinnitus has remained untreatable despite my craving for a breakthrough in the condition.
So is the angiogram to prepare for further coiling or is it to determine whether the position of the aneurism is causing the tinnitus directly ?
….sorry for my ignorance Andrea, but it's not something I've ever heard of !
Thanks for your reply 👍🏻It is a puzzle but on my way to ENT so may know more later.
Tinnitus is a common complaint but not Pulsatile.. it’s just my vascular guy said angiogram because of the location (right ear) and right hand carotid artery pulse (known aneurysm to be there)
It’s usually an interruption of the blood flow that causes the ‘beat’ so that would figure. I guess he’s being cautious which is great but I’m terrified.
Everyone says I’m braver than I think but I’m not feeling it. After coiling last year I know I’m in safe hands but it really doesn’t help😒
I can’t bear the thought of being awake when they do the angiogram if it comes to it!!!
Thanks again Cat and will let you know the outcome. I had my ears syringed last year and it’s only been since then so here’s hoping it’s related to that🤞🤞🤞
Just got back and ears all ok which isn’t as good news as it may seem as the audiologist more or less said it’s was vascular/brain related🤔therefore I was straight onto my vascular surgeons secretary at Walton Neuro as I wanted to make sure I was referred back ASAP.
She’s very kindly and efficiently speaking with my wonderful surgeon to see what he thinks should happen next... possibly waiting for my planned yearly MRI in November. When it was mentioned last week he apparently didn’t think the aneurysms and tinnitus were related which is a bit reassuring ... but I’m busy working on my courage for what’s next and recalling how totally wonderful those nurses were last year and how grateful I was for their tremendous care and empathy.
Ah well it is what it is I guess just got to get through it!! Pass the diazepam when they mention blood tests!!!!! Will let you know the outcome .. I’m a small minority! Typical don’t do straightforward !!
Thanks for the update Andrea. Good to know you can relax for a while and that things mightn't be as complicated as once suspected. Have a good weekend m'love with some sort of pleasant distraction !
I had an SAH /Brain bleed in 2009 ...when I had shunt fitted and I awoke I could hear what I call shushing noise or white noise ..Feels like my ears are constantly against a sea shell Shhhhhh is the only way I can explain it !! part of me now !!
