Good day

I go to a BI group each week and there has been ongoing debate between me and the man who set it up about if I could manage 3 Yorkshire peaks. I think I could tho know it would be hard he doesn’t think I could. There has been talk about working up to doing them but cos of 2 worrying days last year for the staff the man decided against any more tough walks.

In his defence even tho I don’t agree with him it was partly my own fault. We did a 5 mile hill walk which I found easy but 2 older women had to go back after feeling dizzy one says she had out of body experience which scared her. Next we did a 10 mile in hope valley I fully expected to find it easy so didn’t prepare for it I didn’t know eating could help avoid feeling dizzy so wasn’t hungry didn’t eat. Big mistake the first 4 mile were constant steep hills upwards. I’m used to long walks longer than this one but in the first mile I was struggling but no way was I quitting I stayed with another woman who was struggling in hope of hiding that I was. 2 mile in I couldn’t hide it i was going dizzy so decided to be sensible and sit down hoping it would pass and I could carry on and finish the walk. The man who doesn’t think I’d manage the Yorkshire peaks was with me (last person I wanted to see me like this) he was understandably worried and for once didn’t wind me up like he had been earlier. He asked if I wanted to go back, I said no so he encouraged me to eat luckily after only a few minutes I did feel better and completed the walk.

After that he said no more longer walks and said he’d do another same length this year. That got changed to a shorter one at a local area which was today. They want to do outings for more people so instead of one walk for everyone they did 2 so more people went and everyone could choose the group they went with the group going furthest was going to be 3 mile and the other group a shorter walk. In end the shorter walk did 2.8 mile and the longer walk was 4.5 mile. Everyone enjoyed it and went there own pace there was a few hills in longer one and one quite steep hill to go up. At end the man admitted he would do whatever length walk he knew everyone would be ok with and agreed if we go again we will do at LEAST 6 mile. I had wanted to get to 5 today so he said 5 next time then changed it to 6 and thought of saying 7 but he knew I’d keep saying yes to however long he said.

As for 3 Yorkshire peaks that’s not going to happen with the group BUT the man has said if he believed I could manage the peaks safely he would do them with me. So I’m planning on going and walking one peak sometime to see how long it takes me I’d aim for 3 and half hours for one then I would have longer for other 2.

Hi keeley, pen y ghent is the shortest time and the lowest to walk up, but there is just a tiny scramble at one point, on the way up. It's a great feeling when you do it and maybe you could raise money for the headway group, when you do all 3 😊

Yea that’s my plan when or if I do them with man who set group up. Not sure if I’ll have to do them all first without him or just one. I’m hoping to go and do one in 3 and half hours then see if he will believe I’d manage them.
