BBC have an article covering myths about brains. You use more than 10% of your brain, alcohol doesn't kill brain cells but can limit learning, you can't learn languages while sleeping by listening to a french tape and brain damage is not always permanent.

It's a 2 series 9 45 min episodes per series radio drama you can listen to on that site. I don't have the patience but let me know if it's any good
