Hi everyone. I was wondering whether it is ok to exercise, do Zumba etc? I have a dog so I take several walks a day, varying in length, depending on how I'm feeling but I'm very wary of anything that has "jumping ". Any feedback would be very welcome. Thank you. Judith xx

That's just weird. I've been to Sainsbury's where there's a resident busker (great voice--nice man) who I always chat to. He recommended a local gym and, when I said I don't 'do' gyms, he told me they have regular Zumba sessions which is really just exercise, but to music. So I said I'd go.

But thinking about it since, like you, I've been discussing whether it's wise, so I've looked at some Zumba classes on YouTube and the dancing/exercise is very energetic but not particularly strenuous. I might go and ask if I can sit in for one session to get the 'feel' of it.

I'm thinking I might find it exhausting (& possibly a bit intimidating amongst women half my age ! The jury's still out.

Have a look on YouTube if you haven't already Judith. I just Googled 'Zumba videos' and chose the YouTube link. xx

Thanks Cat, I'll have a look. I can't bend over any more because I get a wobbly feeling in my head. Do you get that? x

Yes I certainly do Judith. I've just looked again at some videos and realised that there is vigorous head movement/jumping going on. See what you think ; I'm starting to think it might be a recipe for dizziness !

They differ from clip to clip so there's no indication of what our local classes would be like.

Buy the zumba dvds and try it at home... I have it.....

I can't say I do it every day but I do use it....although it takes some getting used to if you use the weight things at the same time as dancing! Some days I just keep dancing around/singing with music on while I hoover and polish! ;) ....in the comfort of your own home....my favourite place! x

Hi Girls, I did try Zumba - problems are not what you expect. Rhythm and coordination at speed everyone else is doing it - let go of that for a start! I hid at the back next to another woman who hadn't been going long so didn't know the routines. When others turned left, I turned right, when others jumped, I stepped, when others clapped, I swung my arms (vibration of hands clapping a lot was too much). No-one cared I did my own thing. No-one noticed. Everyone smiles afterwards. It is a rewarding experience. Something in doing the same exercise as lots of other people in the same room, some connection with others. I think its good. During the whole hour I think I did 75% of one routine correct! and there were maybe 15 different routines. Didn't matter. It was very jolly and funny! I laughed constantly at how crap I was compared to the expert girls up the front! lol Try it and let us know how you go.

I started back, riding my bike fairly soon after. Initially it was a very short distance in the park slowly getting more confident.

It took months, close on a year to doing the stuff I had been doing.

In terms of risks I guess it depends on what BI you had.

Thank you all for your help, I appreciate it. I think I'm scared to do things in case I have another subachroid haemorrhage. I did nearly die apparently and spent 7 weeks in intensive care. Do you ever feel scared or have you found a way to get over it? Xx

I assume you had CT/Miri scans? Did they find anything of worry?

Most if not all have been throughly checked out! My head/brain plus heart etc had a darn good MOT.
