Left sided abdominal tightness/discomfort

For over a week I have had a sensation of tightness under my ribs, slightly left of centre. This became very painful accompanied by nausea at the weekend. Went to hospital. Observations normal. Bloods all reassuringly normal. Urine test normal. Nothing palpable. Was sent home and advised to take analgesia, contact my gastro consultant who oversees my coeliac disease to request further tests- scan and endoscopy. His secretary is on leave until tomorrow- so will speak to her then.

Has anyone else experienced this? It feels like a clenched fist under my ribs. Today it is not painful but feels tight and there is a constant twitching, fluttery sensation- not related to my heartbeat. Like a twitchy nerve. Feel nausea and poor appetite. Bowels are same as usual. I am not aware that my reflux is a problem at the moment. I have not been glutened as far as I am aware. Even when I have been glutened it has never felt like this or gone on for so long. I’m tired and have no energy. I also feel light headed/dizzy at times when bending forward. . Would be grateful for any thoughts.

Could be gastritis. I was diagnosed with this after a similar discomfort in my left side just under the ribs.

Thank you. Hope it is something like that rather than something more serious. How long did it take you to recover?

You can take over the counter medication, the Pharmacist can advise you. I probably had it for around six months and it seemed to subside on its own, without medication.
