Prescription for food
well no as i diagnosed myself as i have hashi and doctor refused to help me, so don`t tend to see a doctor as they were keeping me ill. i have had it some time but as i am a member of a really good forum, i thought i had candida, but turns out it was celiac. i also have RA and gluten ataxia. all autoimmune, as was my mother.
they tend to run in family`s. so if one relative has it then it can pass down to you.
my gran also was autoimmune. the best help is tpauk.com. we now no more than the doctors as we do a lot of research and we pass this on to anyone who needs help.
doctors get 30 mins teaching on hypothyroidism and many just don`t no how to read the reference intervals for it. also try thyroiduk.org.uk they are good also.
the endocrinologist don`t no much either as they can specialise within their own speciality. IE: diabetics. over 2 million have fibromyolga which is really hypothyroidism. people are dieing from strokes and doctors don`t no that is because it is low T3. i have peer reviewed journals that have the evidence to
support this.
The prescription for basic GF foods are THE only cure for coeliac disease, hence the prescription. They are basic carbohydrates, nothing flash or even tasty there. The expense of supplying the prescription is political and so it's availability depending upon the geographic location of the patient.
The prescription for Hashimoto's thyroiditis is controlled hormone therapy (which you are probably already using), although there are several clinical trials suggesting the role played by supplementing selenium, which is depleted in Hashimoto's. Perhaps it's worth checking this list of selenium rich foods and making sure they're part of your diet:
