I've got a few symptoms and one of them is dry eyes. I have had blood tests and an endoscopy for coeliac disease and they were negative but I was wondering whether a gluten free diet could help anyway?
Thanks

Hi Carly, many coeliac suffer from other autoimmune disorders like Sjorgrens, which causes dry eyes and is also associated with CD. In that many sufferers also have CD.
We also have members who have Blepharitis, dry eyes or eye lids that are often sticky in the morning.
Here's a couple of links about both:

What I find interesting is that your Dr has referred you for a blood test and endoscopy so must have had suspicions of CD. You may well be NCGS (non coeliac gluten sensitive) so you've nothing to lose by trying a gluten free diet but it needs to be completely gluten free, so it would be in your best interests to consult a dietician to point you in the right direction.
Lastly if you do go gluten free then you're in good company on here and if it works then please let us know. And good luck with it.
Yes I had a few symptoms but they weren't that typical, it was mainly because my gran had it. I've been tested for Sjogrens and it was negative but its quite difficult to diagnose so its hard to tell whether I could still have it or not. Think I'll just have to try the diet and find out!
Hello Carly, I have been gluten free for 2 1/2 years and developed dry eyes about 6 months ago. They have got worse despite treatments from the doctor so I have been referred to the specialist in case I have any damage to my eyes. I don't know if you are using any of the over the counter products for dry eyes because I did look up the ingredients of the tears and medications I am using as I wondered if I was reacting to them. I don't think this is the case. I have had tests to exclude the conditions Jerry sent the links for. The cause may well be my vintage years and a gluten free diet has nothing to do with it, although of course a gluten free diet makes me feel so much better. I hope you get your eyes sorted as I know how awful this condition is. Please do be careful and get medical advice if the condition continues in case it is related to anything else as Jerry mentions.
Hello Carly123,
I would recommend trying a gluten free diet as you have nothing to lose....except gluten!
I had dry eyes (amongst other symptoms) and associated it to sjorgens syndrome which has improved after going gluten free.
Good luck.
I did along with a large number of other horribly painful issues including UVEITIS-
