Hi, I am looking for some help as hubby and I are struggling after his Trabeculectomy in March was described by his surgeon as a ‘spectacular failure’ ( his body healed the bleb and pressure went up to 60) . He’s now on Dexamethasone 4 times a day. Dorzolomide with Timolol twice a day both eyes, Iopidine twice a day and Monopost twice a day, both eyes. We have both noticed side effects, mostly confusion, and communication issues, some memory loss. I’m sure this is because of the medication, but if he needs them, what can we do? To add to the problem, he has no septum or proper bone structure in his nose so preventing the drops going down his throat is impossible.
Any suggestions? Or at least confirmation that the cocktail he’s on can have the side effects I am describing?

Hello. I'm so sorry the Trabeculectomy did not work for your husband. Anti scarring solution would have been used but sometimes people heal even with this treatment. It is important that your husband gets back to the secretary to make the consultant aware of the side effects he is experiencing since using the drops. He may be able to change the drops. Although there will still be side effects, they may not be as severe. Pressing on the tear duct after putting the drops in will reduce the risk of drops getting into the back of the throat and the blood stream encouraging side effects. But the important thing is to make the consultant aware.
Thank you, he has an appointment next week, I fully intend to discuss the issue but some Drs are very reluctant to admit there are any, or think they are to be accepted, that’s all very well, but they’re not experiencing them.
