hello all, i have just changed my eye drops as the previous Brimatprost and Monoprostwere not reducing my eye pressure sufficiently (was 35) specifically for some reason just in my right eye. The consultant prescribed Cosopt drops twice a day in the right eye and Visutrax in both once a day. My pressure in right eye is now 15. All good. However, since starting both I have been getting quite severe back ache overnight (probably starting about 4 hours after taking drops). I have never suffered from any back problems whatsoever so I currently am linking this to one of the new drops. Difficult to tell but I think the pain is radiating from the right side but is across small of back. Has any had this sort of side effect from either of these eye drops? Many thanks for any input.

Eye Drops Side Effects

I was on Cosopt for a year. No drop related back pain but I had intense soreness from the Brinzolomide in Cosopt (I had used Timolol a lot before so it wasn't that) and had to change drops. I know other people who were on Cosopt for years though and no problems.I am glad that your pressures are under control now.
Sorry, I meant Dorzolomide!
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have just noticed having read the leaflet again that back pain is listed under uncommon side effects. I did wonder whether it was affecting kidneys. I will carry on for a few more days and see whether the pattern repeats as the back pain is not constant and does subside.
I was on Travatan and would get a multitude of side effects, one of which was lower back pain. Some days this was so bad I needed help getting out of bed. Visutrax looks like a similar medication to Travatan so it is certainly a possibility.

Hi. Sorry to hear that you are experiencing back pain. If this is ongoing you should call the eye secretary to relay a message to your consultant. It might be that these drops are not suitable for you and that you need something else.
thanks. I have just emailed them so hopefully will get some direction tomorrow.
I was on Cosopt but only side effect was on my heart - I started with a slow heart rate 45 - 48 beats per minute and Afib - specialist took me off and put me on Ganfort seemed ok on that but then added Trusopt -and now I’m back with a slow heart rate and Afib which this new specialist has dismissed as being due to the drops - my pressure in right rye is now 20 (good for me) and 15 in the left but my eyesight is deteriorating fast in my right eye but the specialist doesn’t think linked to Glaucoma - there again every time I go I see a different specialist who gives me a different diagnosis- last one even thought I’d been transferred from another hospital and said she had no base line pressures so I’m not holding out much hope re treatment
That’s so interesting. I’ve been recently put on cosopt and also find myself waking with frequent low back pain. I had t connected the two. I will certainly pay attention to the kidneys particularly. I also have atrial fibulation on betablockers so must think about my heart rate during sleep. Not every medic takes the effect of beta blocker eyedrops seriously I’ve found.
