Pain A While After Laser

Hi I’m a newbie. I was diagnosed with closed angle glaucoma in 2019. I’ve had 2 lots of laser treatment, both eyes. My last laser treatment was January, my follow up appointment was in February, since then I get a dull ache in my eyes, intermittently. Does this happen to anyone else? I do have dry eyes occasionally and use an over counter eye drops. I’m on dorzolamide and latanoprost. Looking forward to hearing from other members. 😀

Hello.

Have you advised your consultant of the dull ache in your eye? If not, I would recommend that you telephone the eye secretary and make them aware. They will then relay this to the consultant and get back to you. The consultant would want to know and may ask to see you to check that everything is ok regarding your eye pressure. If you can't get hold of the eye secretary try the PALS (Patient Advice Liaison Services) department or the ECLO (Eye Clinic Liaison Officer) and they can relay your message to the consultant. Dry eyes can sometimes cause eyes to become tired and uncomfortable. If you have dry eyes and you only put the drop in occasionally it may be worth putting them in more often. It will not do any harm as they are artificial tears that hydrate/lubricate the eye.

Hi yes I have a dull ache! sometimes it feels as though the eyeball is too heavy for the socket - do you get that? I've been told it's dry eyes and / or inflammation post surgery. I'm using lubricating eye drops many times a day and a lubricating eye gel which feels nice and cooling.

I hope that you feel batter soon.

Thanks for the reply, I’ve got an appointment next with the consultant so hopefully it’s sorted. 😀

Update - I saw the Nurse Specialist, my pressures both eyes are 14 and photo of nerves back of the eyes were fine, he could find anything causing the dull aches. I’ve had a CT scan which came back normal. The only thing they have changed is my prescription which is dorzolamide 1drop three times a day in the right eye, it used to be 1 drop twice a day both eyes and latanoprost 1drop both eyes at night. The intermittent dull ache is still there, however, I have increased my dry eye medication and feeling better. I’m on the waiting list for cataracts op after 2 laser treatments. I go back in 9 months time, however, I was told and given my eye cas number if I had any problems. I’m more positive now.

All that seems positive and at least nothing untoward found. You must be relieved . Fingers crossed you don't have too long to wait for cataract op
