My mom is in her late forties now. She told me that she finds it difficult to read and drive as well. Her vision is a little blurry and yellowish. Her friends told her that it is either time to change her glasses because her power might have changed or she might have to undergo cataract surgery. Her mother had also undergone this surgery. Due to the doctor's fault, sadly she lost her vision in one eye. It was mainly because the doctor did not check whether she had glaucoma or not. Mom is really scared about the surgery because of that. She gets this creepy feeling that the same thing might happen to her too. I have told her a million times that it will not turn out like that. But it is of no use. Well, our neighbor did her cataract surgery at a hospital in San Antonio ( southtexaseyeinstitute.com/... ) and she is perfectly fine right now. She did both her eyes there. I am taking her to the doctor this week to confirm the cause of the blurry eye problem. Can some of you please share your experiences with cataract surgery so that I could help out my mom and give her some support? Thanks a ton!

Grace312- Sorry your mom is going through this. I strongly recommend you telling her that she should be seen by an eye specialist. Explain to her that you don't want her vision to get worse. Also explain that she should "just be seen" and get an opinion and not do anything at the visit. In order for them to do anything they would have to schedule time and a different room.
But it is important to find out what is going on and maybe getting another doctors opinion could help her feel better and maybe they could do something to restore the vision in the one eye.
Best of luck.
