Hi folk I’m home from cataract surgery yesterday and just started on the mega routine of drops, so 13 per day in left eye not including the dry eye drops! It was very painful yesterday and now I would say it’s sore. I’m sitting in a shady part of my lounge as everything seems really intense with my left eye so maybe that’s the how the world should appear whereas if I close my left eye then the world has a yellow shade, is that because of the cataract in my right eye? Now I know how to answer the question when they asked me before did I notice anything different in the way I see colours. Well today I would! Having cataracts in both eyes I really didn’t know any different. Having to sit in shade as bright light is too much for the eye that’s been operated on. Really don’t know what I should be experiencing in terms of vision, can anyone share their experiences? xx

Hi Sunshine I'm glad that's your surgery over and done with now. That is a large amount of drops to contend with but hopefully it will be worth it and with luck after recovery no drops at all. Sorry to hear that your eyes are still sore today.I am no help at all in terms of what you should be experiencing vision wise as my cataract ops were purely to open up angles in my eyes. My cataracts were only beginning to form. I only had blurriness for an hour or so after op and then I could see as normal.

Take care and get plenty of rest . X

Ha ha 🤣going spare after three hours! Trouble is I just eat and eat! Trying to at least give myself two days rest and then I believe you are allowed to have a gentle walk 😘

in reply toSunshine8888

Stay away from the chocolate 😱. I was very conscious of everything I was doing after first op, I was so scared of doing anything wrong. I started going for walks after a few days but not my usual marathon length ones🙂.x

I know exactly what you mean! I can’t believe how much thinking I’m putting into daily activities, it’s hard work making sure you move in the correct way 🤣

in reply toSunshine8888

It's ridiculous but best to be cautious I think, I still don't bend over to reach anything but do a daft curtsy movement instead !!!! 🙄

I just remembered something I had obviously blocked out of my mind as it was so humiliating. My partner made me wear clear plastic safety goggles when I was out walking after my op as it was the winter and very windy and he was worried anything would get into my eye!!! I looked beyond ludicrous and only did it when he was with me. I live in a tiny village and I was so embarrassed !!!! So I recommend safety goggles when out walking if it's windy 😜

Glad to see you are noticing such a positive difference in your eyesight 🌞. Keep recovering well and no gardening. How is the pain in eye now, hopefully improving ? X

Hi Sunshine, sorry I can’t help regarding your cataract op (I have all that to come), anyway glad to hear it’s all over and you can just concentrate on recovering. Yes I know how hard it is resting all the time as I am really struggling with that myself. At least the weather is cheering up and you can relax in the sun. Take care and hope the pain soon subsides xx

Thank you so much! I’m so grateful the weather is better too. Pain definitely subsiding and getting use to the drop routine. Only trouble I fell asleep on sofa last night, really tired and desperate to go to bed but was behind with drops so knew I had a good 40 mins before I could fall into bed. Just got to laugh at myself, so alarms it is tonight 🤣xx

Oh how well I know that feeling! I remember feeling very tired myself after my operation, falling asleep all the time - but don’t worry about precise timing. As long as you get the right amount of drops in, that will be fine. Good luck xx

It takes a few days to settle and not be uncomfortable I found. The world is so bright now with both eyes done. I’m 6 weeks on. Slight flashing still and you need sunglasses to hand. I felt tired afterwards for couple of days due to PMR I think

Oh wow it’s so bright with just the one eye done, I really hope I’ll be able to get my other eye done. Yes I had flashes yesterday a bit like a camera going off, today just flickering hopefully tomorrow the eye will have settled. Did it help your pressures go down? x

Thank you so much! Had a shock tonight when I turned in my gas cooker I could not believe the colour of the flame, with my right eye it is a dirty dull blue with my left eye it’s amazing such a beautiful blue, electric blue, just so vivid! Of course with both eyes open it’s in between, this all probably sounds so silly ! Having cataracts in my eyes for so long I’ve really never known how others see such vivid colour x
