Has anyone had cataract op and how did it go? I had super vision for 4 days and then apparently the lens moved and now it’s not that great. Because I can read the chart they say I can drive but beyond about 5 metres my vision is blurred so I won’t be driving. I know it’s only 11 days but I am disappointed and also starting to doubt my surgeon. I know I should be patient but due to my other eye being very short sighted I can’t see very well to do basic tasks. It gets you down as you try to explain and no one seems to be listening , would appreciate any wise words you lovely people may have

Hi CC08, I know the lens moving is a possibility after cataract surgery but I'm sorry I don't really know much more than that. Has your consultant given you any indication of what the likelihood is of your vision improving or if there is anything he can do to correct it? It's very frustrating I know when you feel you aren't being listened to as our eyesight is so important and I can understand it getting you down.I had cataract ops on both my eyes just about 2 years ago but mine were pretty straightforward.
Thank you for your reply it helps to know there’s friends out there that understand. He didn’t advise that he wanted to do anything further. Do you remember how long it took your vision to stabilise? x
I had a cataract removed from my left long sighted eye in April. It wasn’t the miraculous change most people report and took at least two months for my sight to be at all normal. (I had had a trabeculectomy 2 months before so not entirely straight forward.) I still find my distance vision isn’t as good as it was and have already had two pairs of glasses as my sight has improved somewhat. In terms of how long it will take to finally settle down it feels like ‘How long’s a piece of string’. However my optician does report some improvement.
Hi CC08. I had a stent and cataract operation nine months ago after which I could not believe how much my long distance sight was improved, unfortunately this did not last and after a few weeks my sight became blurry, I also found my short sight was being affected and I was finding it difficult to read the subtitles on tv, everything seemed double imaged. Initially my consultant was advising me to be patient telling me it sometimes takes time for a cataract to settle but I knew deep down this was not the case and he agreed to examine my eye again which showed up an opafacitation which apparently is quite common and easily remedied by laser. This I had done a couple of weeks later and within hours the improvement was amazing, just as it was when I first had it done. The procedure is called YAG and I was also told that once you have had it it does not recur. The only advice I can give is to go with your gut feeling, if you know something is not right then please pursue it. I hope this helps.
