Sorry if this is completely the wrong place to post.
I had a branchial cleft cyst removed a few years ago and have just come across the report, please see below…
“Sections show a unilscular cystic structure lined by squamous epithelium. There is extensive surrounding fibrosis with associated chronic inflammation. Areas of xanthogranulomatous inflammation with cholesterol clefts and giant cells are present. The features are consistent with an inflamed branchial cleft cyst. There is no evidence of dysplasia or malignancy. Part of an adjacent reactive lymph node is also included“
Prior to the operation, I was really poorly for around 1 year with flu like symptoms, which have now gone. Had lots of blood tests, but no one could explain the reason for my symptoms. I asked 3 different doctors if the symptoms could have been from the cyst, which they all felt it wasn’t linked.
but the report says chronic inflammation, so surely it could cause flu like symptoms?
I’m also confused if the report means I had chronic inflammation from of the cyst, or if I just have chronic inflammation?
Please any advice is appreciated!! Thank you
