Hesitant to get EDMR therapy for PTSD

My therapist has talked about EDMR therapy being beneficial for me in the past. However, with me having FND and seizures she worries it will provoke too many seizures causing me to be put in a dangerous spot. I am unsure what to do at this time. I am still seeing other specialists like a Neurologist and an added psychiatrist, on top of my regular one. Right now we are moving forward with DPT, but I feel pressured to make a decision on EDMR.

Ask your therapist about another therapy for PTSD : Peggy Pace, Lifepspan Integration, which is "softer" than EMDR

I would welcome EMDR. I am almost totally recovered from FND by seeing a variety counselors plus an occupational therapist. I do believe my symptoms are rose from unresolved emotional issues. I am a counsellor myself, and from what I know there is very little risk connected to EMDR if it is practised by a well trained therapist, If you have extensive trauma though, some practitioners feel that it is a bit too much for EMDR.

I find that most of us don’t want to believe that these crazy symptoms can be caused by our emotional selves. I didn’t! 😀However, I want to offer you hope to stick with this route as well as daily balancing of energy and knowing how to accept/manage symptoms. This has helped me be able to return to work and live a satisfying life.❤️

Thank you so much for your advice, and sharing your experience. I find it hard to accept that the symptoms are from within and not from a medical side I have no control of. I appreciate your support. I hope that if I follow this path I will have the same outcome as well.
