Hi, I am so sorry for your daughter and your frustration and sadness, in my opinion it is fruitless to go down the hypnatherapy or hypnosis route as it is a waste of your money and their time. Sit down together and see if you can find whats going on with her, i bet its deeper than you think, talk to her, FND is usually sparked by an anxious time in ones life and manifests later as something else or can be a sypmtom of not being able to cope or something in the past or near present that your daughter cannot come to terms with. please sit down and think carefully, FND can present in all different kinds of ways and is now a recognised illness by most doctors and is treated by lots of different medications, and these can make your daughter feel much better and be able to cope with her back injury also. Remember there is a reason why your gp has diagnosed FND, and I think you are lucky as a lot of gps still do not recognise it, you have a long and winding road, but you will get there in the end. If you want to talk more just ask. I am 54 female and have had FND for 7 years, my husband helps me out a lot and we have a lovely life. I AM SO VERY SORRY FOR YOUR PREDICAMENT, please write more. with much lovexxxxx

Hi again,

no, have not tried hypnatherapy, but as far as i know this has never been of any help to funtional neurological dissorder. with all due respect, you have to try what you think will help so good luck if you chose that route.

I THINK YOU SHOULD TALK TO YOUR GP AGAIN ABOUT FND AND HER BACK PROBLEMS.-bearing in mind try to talk to your daughter about her life. Your GP, if you push, will be able to give medication for the fnd, and in itself this may help her back. SORRY-BUT MY ADVICE TO YOU IS THAT YOU REALLY SHOULD PUSH YOUR GP FOR ANSWERS.

SORRY!!!-but hope this makes you think-its a long journey with fdn, and all its symptoms. xxxx

As with the other reply I wouldn’t waste time and money on alternative therapies. That said physio massage may help with back pain / injury. However please seek medical advice first. A diagnoses is a positive step but I must warn you it can be a lengthy journey to find medication or treatment that is beneficial. This condition can be triggered by stress but beware of that route because it isn’t always the case. Good luck and I hope things improve
