Just a quick question for the last few nights I have found I wake up feeling like my whole body has been shaking all night. I'm not sure if it is a visible shaking but the whole of my body feels like I'm on a vibration plate or something.
Has anyone else had this?

Yes, I have had this, very strongly during early illness, less powerful in recovery.
I call it 'buzzing'.I have it in limbs/base of spine sometimes and also internally like someone has planted a cellphone inside me ! Rather disconcerting but not harmful- just another weird sensation our misfiring nerves can throw at us ! I have seen this talked about before on forums.I also had it internally on waking early on in recovery, along with palpitations. Can feel a bit like you have a low electric current passing through you at times.
I now only usually have the internal buzz and strong heartbeat after eating, buzzing literally in the stomach area shortly after meal then later on in intestine area. After some reading I have come to the conclusion that I can feel the natural process of enhanced blood supply/heart rate during digestion ! I can also get a buzzing in the womb area shortly before a period.Odd eh ! ? Sensitive little soul, I am !
I once read an article that suggested that the buzzing signified an enhancement of sensation,as opposed to a lack of sensation as in numbness.
I am quite comfortable with this as an explanation so I no longer worry about it and like other symptoms have learned to tone down awareness and accept that it is part of me : )
I can assure you it must be safe ,as I am still here 2 1/2 years on !
I don't think it is a visible shaking,more a personal sensation, although the palps can rock me a lttle ! : )
Hi Angela, I don't get it all over, mainly in my hands legs and feet, but is almost constant at times. There is a name for it, but I cannot remember it right now. I have always said it is like I have electricity running through me, so weird, I am pretty use to it as it has been many years now. Weird bodies I tell you.
Thanks for reminding me- the term is Paresthesia.Found a website that explains quite well : medhelp.org/tags/health_pag...
This is an MS site- I am not suggesting that anyone has this it is just that it often occurs in MS patients so info tends to be better on such sites. As we all know, brain dysfunction symptoms all share similarities and there is much crossover in physical effects between different neurological conditions.
Reading the possible symptoms I can raise my hand to the delight of random itching, occasional warm bucket of water down the leg phenomena and the peripheral vision movement or 'mouse in the house' as they describe ! Never sure if the shooting/tightening pain is purely spasticity related or stand alone neuropathic pain.
Interestingly, the vibrating/electric buzzing can also be a symptom of anxiety or occur in menopause.I can rule out menopause as I was hormone tested and I think, given our medical background and the fact that we are chilled out people it is most likely of neuro origin.
I have also become aware that some people who suffer sleep paralysis can get the vibration effect upon waking too.Fascinating !
Anyway, how is your bladder issue these days- you were having some trouble with it a while back, any improvement ?
Hi Angela, Thank you so much for the site. As I read it I found one more that I did not know was Paresthesia. About 6-8 months ago I had a smell, sweet sickening smell, it was with me all the time, for weeks it lasted. I truly thought I was going to go crazy, it was so strong, and went with me everywhere, kept telling my husband to smell me. I would say How can you not smell it. It was with me in everything I ate and did. CRAZY STUFF. I did not know this was a paresthesia. Also did not know loss of taste and smell. I use to have the best smelling ability, now I cannot smell a thing hardly. So the article is great informative reading for us, and just reiterates my point that we have a neurotransmitter problem with our brains.
Thank you for asking about my bladder, thoughtful for you to remember. It is better, have days that are still problematic, but much better than it was. They are watching it closely. Wanted me to go back to Mayo but I have decided to stay put with my current Dr.s, I have an appointment with my Neuro on Monday.
Have almost no voice today and walking is a bit of a challenge, but I feel good. If I feel good nothing else bothers me to much. Thank you again for the once again helpful information. God Bless and pray you have a wonderful Saturday, the sun is out and I have food and a home and a wonderful family, I am blessed. Cathy
What an amazing approach response and attitude to have! I am full of admiration that you have such a positive way of thinking -
God bless you, and help you each day. You have certainly helped me today! I am trying to 'get to grips' with my daughter's diagnosis and I find myself grieving!
Thank you so much for your reply again. This has really helped as it is driving me crazy as still happening but at least I know I'm not the only one it is happening to and that it's all ok. Hope you are doing ok and thank you again for all your help with this new disorder. It means a lot to me to have someone that understands.x
Just to let you know, Cathy has just reminded me that the vibration phenomena comes under the term of 'Paresthesia' so I have pasted a link up above in my reply to a site with some good info : ) x
