Post polio syndrome

Thank goodness polio survivors are rare now, but that makes it difficult to connect to others and even find docs that understand. My timeline: 6 mos old -- initial virus left me with paralyzed right arm and weakened leg = PT and warm baths 4 times a day (thank you, mom), broke arm 6 times betw ages 2-6, had failed muscle transplant (1954) followed by PT 3/wk, basically normal life till late 30s when legs started aching and swelling w/ diagnosis of PPS. Told not too overexercise and would be in wheel chair in 10 years. In 60s, strong leg knee became arthritic from overuse, swollen and very painful. Orthopedists want me to get knee replacement but PPS doc says my motor nerves won't regenerate = no go. Tried more PT, braces, painkillers, etc. Acupuncture, massage, Feldenkrais Movement keep me walking and lessened pain. Suggestions?
