Hi all best with rest of your BCG treatment,it worked for my husband.Yesterday we went for his yearly cystoscopy,All Clear !!! He was diagnosed in 2009 so we can say he is cured!! Ironically I go in hospital Tuesday for TURBT operation on a 2cm tumour and various patches of inflammation, hope I will be as lucky as my husband is!! Do hope you sail through your treatment,my husband had some side effects but nothing too bad, will be thinking of you xxx

Hope and a prayer that all goes well for you on Tuesday, I had a tumor removed from the bladder in December 2015, the tumor had spread to the musle and as a result secondaries had spread to my lungs, they treated the bladder first with Radiotherapy and I am now being treated with Chemotherapy for the lungs, my next scan is due on the 17th June, this will show if the Chemotherapy is working, I feel blessed to have a really good and positive outlook, my wife has and continues to be a real blessing, she is my soul mate keeping me right. God bless.

...said it before and will say it again..."drink like fish" the greatest benefit when on the BCG - after the two hour "hold" and then drink drink drink like a fish the rest of the day...I've had 18 "doses" now...it has got progressively more difficult with discomfort and some blood showing...but usually just "day of"...good luck with your treatments

Day before yesterday I had my 6th of 8 BCG's. No SE's so far and actually even the catheterization was not bad. Only a little bit discomfort was when the hose passed through the old prostate. Only 2 more to go. I don't consider this an SE but when peeing, feels like rather warm/hot pee passing out the uretha but certainly NOT enough to even mention to the really great lady/nurse who installs this stuff. Liz, I hope you can easily tolerate the BCG's as well as I have. We just have to keep calm and expect the worst and it never reaches that level.

Hi Liz 2597,

Thanks for enquiring after me!

I am fine thank you, just very busy in my retirement, making hen sheds and chicken rearing coops etc., loads of new bantams hatching and eggs galore! Got to stay alive to deal with this lot!

Had my interim cystoscopy on 24 May and was gratified to find after 6 BCG`s, that it was clear. Consultant described it as "Encouraging!" Still a long road ahead, but very positive.

Hope all is well with you, and glad you can tolerate BCG. If it works for you long term, then it`s a good treatment option.

Keep on keeping on. All will be well!

Hi bella so glad to hear that like me you have the all clear the bcg is an immunotherapy it builds up your immune system so if a tumour tries to come back your immune system should be better able to fight it off and keep it away hope this helps also the bcg treatment is not so bad wishing you good luck with your treatment
