E-Cig caused my illness........

I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer in December 2015. Am currently undergoing BCG treatment after two cystoscopies. The first was to remove a tumor, and the second was a checkup. The tumor had spread to the prostate but only marginally. 3 days out of hospital and my urether was blocked with blood clots making it impossible to urinate for 10 hours. I was in excruciating pain and was admitted to hospital where I stayed for 3 days undergoing manual bladder flushes. Wow -

I didn't think such lovely nurses were capable of inflicting such torture on me!

I feel fairly normal, although my gut feels permanently bloated and bruised internally. My Doc says that is probably all in my head, but I am sure I am not imagining it.

My gut feeling is I will need my bladder removed but I hope not.

I never imagined I would be joining the cancer club but I guess it can happen to anyone.

I have no doubt being addicted to an electronic cigarette for approximately 18 months caused my illness. I was told it was a safe alternative to smoking and went from a very occasional smoker to a heavy user of an e-cig. I wonder if anyone else out there has had the same experience???

My eyes watered just reading that! Not E-cigs for me, I've never been a smoker, but I'm convinced that my drinking habits when I was living in China caused my bladder cancer. Doctors don't seem convinced though. I guess the reality is that sometimes we just draw a bad card in life and it's impossible to say with certainty why it happened... Best of luck going forward with your issues.

Hi Julib, I thought id never join the club but it happened, ..ive got muscle invasive bladder cancer. I had my bladder removed a week ago today, and they reconstructed a neo bladder,,,,,, Keep a positive mind, which i have, as bladder cancer is curable.

Good Luck Gareth

Hi Gareth_G. I am aware of your plight as I have been reading your blogs. Good for you being so positive. Do you still feel normal with the Neo bladder or is it still too early to tell? The doc tells me I would still be able to play golf with a neo bladder. Would you agree? Regards, Julian

Hi Julian.

At the moment it is a bit early to tell, as im not controlling my bladder. My drain and Kidney bags will be coming off in the next few days. Then i will be going home, in about 2 -3 weeks time they will then remove my catheter and Superpubic bags. It is then i will learn how to use my new bladder.

However as a coincidence, i have a friend, who last year met someone on a golf course, and told them he had a bladder replacement, and has no problems.

I myself dont play golf, but do like my fitness, as in running and cycling. My consultant assured me that i would be able to resume all activities within months.

I will endeavour To keep these post going to keep all updated

Regards Gareth

The chemical liquid used in e-cigs is a derision of plastic. You are filling your inside with carcinogenics of the worst kind. When using it virtually 24/7 it is poisoning your body. I stopped after losing 13 kg in 30 days and not being able to get out of bed or eat that whole time. I only weighed 78 kgs to begin with. As soon as I stopped the e-cig my health returned to normal - then I was diagnosed with cancer 18 months later. No coincidence as I was a very casual social smoker prior to that including 7 years without a puff. Do some research and you might change your mind. The only ones saying e-cigs ar safe are the tobacco industry and smokers. There has been no research done on heavy e-cig users but just you wait and see.

I think if you use nicotine juice it might but fruit juice no

It is the base that causes the problem not the flavour. The nicotine causes the addiction. The carcinogenics are the problem. Not many people smoke the natural liquid as it tastes awful. Major causes of bladder cancer are

Smoking and persons working with plastic chemicals. Surprise surprise! I suggest you do some research on e-cig liquids.

Hi I just thought I should reply too you message. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2011. I had the been seeing blood but thought I was on the change and a smoker. I decided to change to an e-cig. It changed my life. I could go out walking without any chest problems. Iv just had another clear test and don't have to go back for another 18 months. I think we all look and try to see what the cause is. We are all special because we are around to say so. I hope everything goes well with you. My thoughts are with you all.
