My initial ultrasound showed growth on bladder...but ct scans are what I've had every 6months after bladder removed...glad they've found out though
the only thing my ultrasound showed was a small cyst which the specialist said was usual in someone my age and wouldn't really cause a problem
Glad they did further tests and eventually a ct scan
luckily I don't have to wait long,saw the urologist Monday and they called today and have got me in tomorrow

Yes after 3 contrast catscans they did one without any dyes or contrast there she was taking up 1\5 of my bladder. They of course had to remove her and dissect her for a proper diagnosis. You can't confirm cancer through just the scan they have to look at the cells. Some tumors are benign.
I had a strange sensation in my upper left back, had ultra sounds - nothing showed up, but some shadowing on the tests. I went to my acupuncturist who worked me over and said that my condition was "internal" not muscular and to go back to my doctor and press for more tests. Upon telling my doctor this story he ordered at CT scan. Bingo...CT scan showed something in the bladder...assumed to be minor. I was then referred to a urologist and via cystoscopy they found two tumours, removed and diagnosed as high grade...but non muscle invasive. I'm all clear since March 2014...and 18 BCG treatments behind me.
thanx for the reply,i had a biopsy on my bladder but turned out to be nothing,doctors still wernt happy so sent off for a ct scan,awaiting the results,if this comes back all clear then the passing of blood in my urine is a total mystery and must have been a one off,glad to hear u have been clear since 2014,long may it continue

I had lower back pain followed some time later by passing blood when I urinated. A CT scan found my tumors. The rest of my story is just like yours. I am not sure I could handle 18 treatments of BCG. They knocked me in the dirt. I have had 9 and the side effects take me to my knees for pain while trying to urinate. This lasts all day the day of treatment and then the next day I wake up sick. Thankfully I am only down two days.

sorry to hear your suffering,not sure how I will react if the worse happens,thought about it a lot and so far I'm looking at not getting any treatment if push comes to shove,i feel well at the moment and that's the way I wanna stay

52 is way too young to not do treatments if they are needed. Your cancer will become invasive if you don't do any treatments. Many patients do not have the side effects I have had from BCG. I must also add that the effects came on gradually. BCG is a much better alternative than chemo or radiation. So don't let horror stories control your destiny.

the trick I have found with BCG is "drink like a fish" - after the two hour roll around (I know not necessary but want to make sure it is covered if there all the way around)...I usually have chicken noodle soup and then water after water after water - I basically keep myself topped up as much as possible. This seems to really keep me flowing and by evening I'm "all clear" in the urine, after starting with blood in the early passings.

I had an 11 hour round trip by vehicle to get my treatments once a week. So I was already at a disadvantage by most standards. As soon as the BCG is instilled, I feel my body start going south, meaning that I start out feeling good before the treatment, but before I am through rolling, I am already starting to feel less than 100%. I had to carry a bleach bottle or a plastic hospital urinal bottle with me in the vehicle in order to get myself 45 minutes to my sister's home because you can't just go anywhere. The urge to go was happening about every 20 minutes. I would stay the night there and my wife and I drive another 5 hrs the next day to get home. A couple of times we made the round trip in one day. Those were really hard days that knocked me down a couple of days afterward. The good news is that I am in remission.
