Yes, we have quite a few male members, but we are predominantly a female forum!

This is partly because more women than men are diagnosed with fibro - we don't know why this is - and partly because statistically, men don't seem to enjoy this sort of thing as much as women do - I'm sure there are notable exceptions!

We shall look forward to regular posts from you, Sir! :)

yes

Hi fibroman welcome to the forum,

Moffys answer made perfect sense to me , we welcome men and women equally but the men tend to come on less often than the women and mainly ask questions and then Quietly go for a while ....we do have very few men who log in daily to chat even though we would like to see more. We even have women come here on behalf of their husbands and when we welcome them and say get your husband on here to chat .. It's not so often that they do unfortunately. ....Moffy wasn't saying men don't go on chat rooms .. Indeed they do... But she was saying we don't see as many men on here daily as for what ever reason they just don't.... :(

Hope that clears up any confusion

Welcome fibroman, this is a wonderfully supportive forum, I think VG was absolutely right, we welcome everyone, though as far as I understand it from my dr, fibro isn't as prevalent in men as it is in women. That may account to some degree for their not being so visible here, tho as VG said, more come and use the question forum rather than the blog posts, and I think moffy is right there, men do find it more difficult to open up publicly and show their emotions than women, for fear of appearing not to be as strong as they, as males are!

This is my own very humble opinion and hope that it is taken in the way it is intended.

Thank you Foggy!

I think also, that men are very purposeful when they use internet forums. They come in, look for what they want, ask a few questions, then go until the next time.

At the risk of offending any ardent feminists, we ladies like to hang around and have a natter, whereas men would often prefer to chat to their mates at the pub, or wherever they have their social life.

Anyway, whatever the reason, it is as it is, and we would definitely welcome some more masculine input!

I am a little bird, and I think you are a real cute male. :-)

Why thank you for noticing security....... Blushes .... Actually it would help if we had little make or female indicators but then people could say they were the opposite sex anyway... Nice to know you are male security as it is sometimes difficult to tell when new people ask a general question :)

Ooh we have fans, VG ( preens)! Yes it's always good to have an indication of who's who! I'm a man actually, but I have a very good razor! LOL :)

I was told at a Sheffield pain clinic by a doctor that fibro was a woman's illness and it was implied a was putting it on despite hospital diagnosis of fibro yes I am male

I am a gent but dress as a woman, does that count? Lol!

I'm sure you look quite delicious, Peachy, but I'm not at all sure that wearing dresses will help your fibro! :D

I`m a male and I do read the posts most days. I may reply to posts sometime if I think the info I have may help others. Most of the time someone has already posted what I would say in my reply so I then do not reply.

It is said that 4 women to 1 male have fibro and that woman suffer differently to males. I am unsure to how differently they suffer as it mostly reads that same problems I have.

Sorry about the delay in answering your question, I am male and have been a member of this lovely mixed community (females 10 to males 3) since it started, I have Fibromyalgia and other medical conditions. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 8yrs ago and I have seen the male population diagnosed with this horrible disability grow more in that 8yrs, I reckon in another 100yrs or so we will have caught up with the girls, I think they were given this dreaded illness to see how they cope, which is obviously that they cant, which is not a stain on them but the powers that be decided that its the blokes turn and I can tell you that its bl**** hard work just trying to cope with the pain and fatigue that this illness gives us on a daily basis. I am sure you will have other issues to deal with, like telling your family and friends just how you feel, good luck with this. Then, you might just not be able to work, you apply for benefits just to get by and are told by some kind of Disability Adviser to get lost. rant over
