Hi, does anyone out there get bursitis in the top of the leg/buttocks. I have had it for two years first in one leg now both. I don't know if it is the fm or due to the way I walk with arthritic knees.?

I am at this very monent sitting with a hot water bottle under my right thigh!!!! Yes, it hurts. Ome doc said bursitis and gave a jab, the next doc down the line sent me for physio. If you can possibly afford it a few sessions with an osteopath would make a diference.

One excercise is to lay in a hot bath and bend up your knees like you are having(well the missionary position or a intimate exam! rest your feet on the sides of the bath and hold your knees with your hands. the bouyancy of the water helps and the heat. Do for about five minutes every time you have a bath.

Thanks I will try that. My doc has me going for physio in two weeks, supposed to be for the arthritis in my knees but he said they will look at my bursitis too.

Yes, I have it in my right hip. I had a fall about 4 years ago where I landed on my left knee and extended my right leg out in front of me. Its never been quite right since. I did however see a consultant last summer who gave me some exercises to do. Lying down, bring your knee up to your chest or as far as you can then push it over to the opposite side of your chest. You should feel the muscle stretch in your thigh. Release and repeat about five times. I also found gentle swimming helps a lot. I was offered a cortisone injection but decided against it. Ive always got that as a back up should I ever feel the need for it!

I have bursitis on the left leg, had the cortison injection which helped, that was 2 years ago. It comes back now and again...it wakes me up when it is bad...M.

Well I have terrible pain in both buttocks, especially if I attempt to stand for more than 1 minute. And it's difficult to move around, it's also quite painful for me to sit for any length of time. Is this bursitis? XX

Yes, it is like that with me. See above comment to spider. I am hoping the physio helps.
