Hello Lucy, I am so sorry you are in so much pain and I can understand how you must be felling, I do take Oramorph as well as being on a morphine patch I only take Oramorph for break through pain. But th best thing I can advise you to do is either take either 5mls which is a Teaspoon or 10mls which will be a Desert spoon and 2 Paracetamol taking the tablets combined is a greatain relief and use it every 4hrs and hopefully it should help! Are you just on the Oramorph or to you have a patch you use like I do? I'm here till very late if you need anymore help or advice. Take Care x
I think I will ask my GP as I can't take much more of this pain.
I'm under so much stress at the moment with my contract at work coming to an end and then just looking for more work but you can see I'm disabled so who is going to want to employ me? I am receiving DLA both mobility and care but are right in the middle of selling up as I can no longer use stairs, so need a bungalow.
I feel so low and such pain, feeling very sad about everything that I've worked hard for stopping now, like my house, job etc all because of fibromyalgia
Hi Lucyw, I also lost my job at work due to my Fibromyalgia amongst other things and don't know if I will get another job who will employ me now! specially where I'm living, luckily I have a bungalow which was my mothers so I can understand you needing to move which is stressfull in doing thatm I am on DLA both mobility and low care! My Fibro only got worse after losing my Mum 5yrs ago and it rules my life besids all my other health problems! I feel for you..x
You may also find the info on the NHS Choices website helpful, especially if your GP is unwilling to look at info from a charity.
Strong opioids are not a recommended treatment for Fibro, partly because they cannot be as effective in someone with Fibro and are unlikely to provide a good level of symptom relief. They can be used to take the edge off the pain temporarily, but should be seen as a temporary aid, not a long term solution, because they are unlikely to provide good symptom relief.
Your GP would have plenty more pain killing options that you can take, and it's not always the strongest that will suit you best!
You need to see your doc asap - severe pain is an emergency. If that proves difficult, go to A&E for prompt attention - no one should have to suffer this level of pain for long.
thank you everyone for your comments regarding my pain.
I can only say one thing, i'm trying so hard to continue with my life but the pain is pulling me down.
I want to continue working part time but this is now getting ridiculous the amount to pill popping I am doing just to get up in the morning and start my day.
As you can see from all of the support you're getting from this group, we all do understand the pain and mental suffering you've got. Years ago I thought I was the only person in the world to have this and was very low. In those days I didn't have a computer so didn't know how many people were going through the same as me. Please know that you will go through patches like this but you'll be surprised at how you'll learn to cope with it and hopefully you'll have better days very soon when you get your meds sorted out for times like this. Don't feel bad about 'pill popping' I had a wonderful pain consultant when I lived in Wales who told me that you only get hooked on something if you DON'T have any pain when you take your meds. He was an anaesthetist so he really did know about conciousness and pain killers for constant pain.
One other suggestion. If you don't really want to move you can apply through your occupational therapist (if you have one, if not, ask to be referred to one) to have a stairlift. As I had little money the local council paid for the lift and the instalation if that's the only reason you feel you must move.
Hope that helps you in some way. Let us know how you get on :0)
Love the name, we have a camper van, so like you love the outdoors.
Thank you for your helpful advice really did cheer me up. I think we really have to move as there are stairs to the bedroom then another 2 steps further up so stairlift a bit awkward. Also suffering from Crohn's disease I often urgently need toilet and even a stair lift would be too slow. No where to keep a commode unless in the kitchen - yuk or lounge hmmm I don't think so. So move it is. But thank you for all advice hugs x
