I,m going to answer its a good question , unfortunately in my experience, the pain is pretty constant no matter what time of day and my meds make me sleep.... As to my best guess why the pain is worse at night for some is the fact they have to do more in the day than others like myself who don't work so can pace effectively and therefore hurt more from having to do so much during the day and maybe lack of sleep is also a factor.... But it's just my best guess....
I hope you get plenty of helpful answers

Mine is mostly at night and It is making me hate the evenings now! I am also like a 99yr old in the mornings to as where I am stiff in my legs n ankles...trying to get to the bathroom is a joke I feel like victor meld rose cos all I do is moan, it's horrible.. Still got to learn how to pace myself, as think I can do this do that but it bites back.. X
I'm sure that night time is worse for anyone who is ill. When I was nursing, it was noticeable that patients were more fretful and distressed at night. The day tires you, then when you should be sleeping your pain stops you from getting any rest. Also, there is nothing going on to take your mind off the discomfort.
My rheumatologist always tells me that a full dose of pain relief is essential last thing, otherwise disturbed sleep will make you worse the next day. I'm sure he's right.
maybe you should see your doctor and ask if there's anything you can have to settle you at night.
Hope you find a solution to your problem!

Thank you all, I don't know mine is always worse
In the evening and in the morning stiff.
It's not because of me working I don't think,
Because I work one day on one day off
and the day off I do nothing at all.
Maybe it's relaxing, or maybe as you say
What ever illness it's worse in the evening
night times are hell i have to admit but apparently its down to our immune systems fighting.
i suffer all day but nights are bad.
mornings takes me a while now to come round where before i jumped out of bed and was 1st one getting everyone up lol
but now i get brought a cuppa (twice) shhh thats cos hubby brings one then daughter gets up and she does lol it really tickles me but i never let on to either hahaah .
when i used to get up to make a cuppa i had to sit whilst waiting then sit to drink take meds and then start to get ready.
but now i have in bed then i get up.

That's interesting, maybe the immune system is at it's
Lowest then, as we would be feeling tired, well most people
would.
Mines worse in the mornings x
Mine's worse early mornings and through the night.
Every one is differient, I'm stiff in the morning some time I have
To be pulled out of bed
But pain unless I am going through a flare which I am at the moment
Always seems worse in bed. Maybe it's because we don't sleep so there
Is nothing else to take your mind off the pain
My hospital runs courses for pain, they explain how to take your mind
Off the pain, I always tend to think of nice things when I have the pain
Or I go for a walk I know well in my head, but they might have more to
Offer I think I might go and see
