Does firbro run in families?
Hi Sharne
I don't know if there is any proof it is hereditary but as you say, there seems to be a few mums and daughters with it on here.I suppose it is like any disease (I hate that word) it can skip generations. I would hate my daughter to get it, she is 26.
There is no one else in my family that has it, as far as I am aware. As they don't really know what causes it in the first place and symptoms vary so much, I expect it would be too hard to research to see if it can be passed on.
A though provoking subject.
Love n hugs Karen xxxx
Hope your daughter dont get it. Im 27 and its not nice especially with kiddies to look after. I hope my daughter dont get it. My mum has it to. xxx
Well I have three daughters and they all have fibor and my Mother had it and although not diagnosed because back then they didn't have a name for the symptoms my Nan suffered as I do so guess she had it to.
In my humble opinion yes it runs in families.
I do not think there is real proof but it is suggested that if a parent has it then it is possible a child will too. I am seeing signs now in my daughter who honestly has enough health problems going on without the added worry of FMS. But I see things and very loud alarms bells start to ring I can tell you. I just do not mention it to her. But yes, it is possible xxxxx
Yes definately does, my mum has it, i have it and my daughter has the symptoms... Ive read that it can aswel.
Here is Lindsey's (Lindsey Middlemiss - FibroAction,HU) comment on whether Fibromyalgia is hereditary or not taken from a previous discussion on the subject -
"There is a genetic link, but previous generations would have been likely to get a different diagnosis (e.g. Fibrositis - what we now know as Fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain) if any."
If you type in the word "Hereditary" into the search bar at the top right of your screen, other discussions we have had about whether Fibro is hereditary will appear, I hope this is helpful and informative for you.

Libs
i have spotted symptoms in both my daughters and my son
My uncle and I are the only ones in the family who have it, so I'm unsure if it's genetic
I have to say I think there is a link, my Grandmother had fibrositis and I'm convinced my mother had it too although she was told she was a hypochondriac and that it was all in her head. I think if she'd still been alive today she would have been diagnosed with fibro by now with all the symptoms she had. Her brother and sister are both OK as my sister has been, although she's been struggling quite a bit since her chemo finished. I think it must be some kind of genetic predisposition, but it takes something to trigger it off - thats just my opinion of course but it'll be interesting to see if research ever figures it out. I gave blood for the Kings College trial, maybe they'll find something interesting in their research.
No one in my family has fibro. Not my gran mum or my kids. Take care God Bless you all love light. Pain free day for all i pray for you all hugs.
